The tourism industry is a key global sector, playing a vital role in economic growth, job creation, and regional development. Over the past few decades, it has established itself as a significant economic driver, stimulating growth in related industries such as hospitality, transportation, and entertainment.
Pakistan’s diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage offer considerable potential to leverage tourism for economic growth. Despite setbacks from the pandemic, the global tourism sector is recovering, with an expected annual growth rate of 5.8% from 2022-32. In Pakistan, tourism’s contribution to GDP is projected to reach 6.1% by 2024, alongside rising employment in the sector.
The “Pakistan Tourism Profile 2024,” produced by Tourism Insights, provides an in-depth industry analysis, offering valuable insights into opportunities and challenges. This report draws on the ‘Travel and Tourism Development Index 2024’ (TTDI) by the World Economic Forum, incorporating data from authoritative sources such as the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), UN Tourism, the World Bank, relevant newspaper articles, and the Pakistan Economic Survey.
