Markus Christ Appointed General Manager of Shangri-La Hotel and Residences, Jakarta
Markus Christ has been appointed General Manager of Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, part of the Shangri-La Group, effective January 2026. He also assumes responsibilities as Area General Manager for Penang.
A seasoned hospitality executive with more than 21 years within Shangri-La Group, Christ returns to Jakarta after previously serving as General Manager of Shangri-La Jakarta (2019–2021). Most recently, he was General Manager of Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, Singapore, and Area Manager overseeing Penang and The Palawan @ Sentosa.
His extensive leadership portfolio spans China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Oman, including key roles as Opening General Manager of Shangri-La Nanchang, General Manager of Shangri-La Xi’an, Cluster and Area General Manager in Penang, and Resident Manager at Shangri-La Dalian. Earlier in his career, he held senior F&B leadership roles with Shangri-La as well as international brands including Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts and Hilton Worldwide.
His appointment marks a strategic leadership move for Shangri-La Jakarta, reinforcing operational excellence and regional integration across Southeast Asia.
