Governor KP Reviews National Tourism Initiatives with PTDC, Assures Cooperation to Unlock Tourism Potential

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday said that the province had immense opportunities for natural and religious tourism, which should be tapped to help stabilise the region’s economy and create employment opportunities.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Aftabur Rehman at the Governor’s House here.

He said KP was an important province of the country in terms of heritage and cultural diversity, according to a statement issued from his office.

Mr Kundi assured Mr Rehman that the government would provide all possible cooperation for the promotion of tourism, attracting investment, and highlighting the province’s positive image at the international level.

“Basic facilities, infrastructure, and security at tourist destinations should be ensured to attract both domestic and foreign tourists,” he said, adding tourism sector could be made more active and stable through effective coordination between the federation and the provinces.

He was briefed regarding the launch of tourism and hospitality services and the ‘Salam Pakistan’ brand, as well as of tourism symposiums, conferences, promotional activities, tourism investment conferences and expos, the ASEAN Pakistan Tourism Business Forum, the Buddhist Tourism Conference, and the National Tourism Awards 2025.
