Gregory Maliassas has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer at Driftwood Hospitality Management
Maliassas brings extensive global leadership experience across luxury and upscale hospitality segments. In his new role, he will lead the strategic direction and operational performance of Driftwood Hospitality Management, overseeing a portfolio of more than 80 hotels and over 15,000 keys, with a focus on driving operational excellence, maximizing owner returns, and creating long-term value in partnership with Driftwood Capital.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Playa Hotels & Resorts, a leading owner, operator, and developer of high-end all-inclusive resorts across Mexico and the Caribbean. During his tenure, the company managed a portfolio of 24 resorts with nearly 10,000 rooms and approximately 15,000 employees, operating under global brands such as Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham, and IHG. The company, listed on NASDAQ, generated close to $1 billion in annual revenue and was successfully acquired by Hyatt Corporation for $2.6 billion in 2025.
He also held senior leadership roles with Accor as Senior Vice President Operations for Luxury & Premium Brands, overseeing brands including Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, Pullman, Swissôtel, and MGallery across Central and Eastern Europe. Earlier, he served in key operational leadership positions with Sofitel, managing regions across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Indian Ocean, and holding General Manager and Area leadership roles.
Maliassas began his career in hospitality operations across Europe and the Middle East, including leadership roles with Chandris Hotels, Ventura Hospitality Inc., and international brands such as Rocco Forte Hotels, Le Méridien, and Ramada, building a strong foundation in hotel management, food and beverage, and front office operations.
His appointment reflects Driftwood Hospitality Management’s focus on experienced leadership to drive continued growth and strengthen its position in the global hospitality industry.
