Madone Pelan has been appointed as General Manager of Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton, Alberta. With more than 25 years of hospitality, tourism, sales, and executive leadership experience, she brings a strong track record of leading luxury hotels, driving commercial growth, and enhancing guest experiences across Canada’s hospitality sector.
Prior to this appointment, Pelan served as General Manager of the award-winning Oak Bay Beach Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, a position she held for more than five years. During her tenure, she oversaw the operations of one of Canada’s leading luxury boutique hotels, building on a successful five-year period as Director of Sales and Marketing at the same property. She also recently co-founded Pelan Hospitality, a strategic advisory firm focused on luxury hotels, restaurants, destination development, executive leadership, guest experience, and business strategy.
Throughout her career, Pelan has demonstrated a steady progression through leadership roles in hospitality and tourism. Before joining Oak Bay Beach Hotel, she spent nearly 12 years with Fairmont Empress Hotel, managing a wide range of domestic and international sales markets while representing one of Canada’s most iconic luxury hotels. Her industry leadership extends beyond hotel operations, having served on the board of MPI BC Chapter as VP Membership, President-Elect, President, and Past President, contributing to the growth and development of the meetings and events sector in British Columbia.
Her hospitality journey began with guest service roles at The Sutton Place Hotel and earlier experience with Princess Cruises, where she held several positions both ashore and onboard. These foundational roles helped shape her expertise in guest relations, service excellence, sales, leadership, and destination marketing. Over the years, she has built a reputation as a respected hospitality leader known for her commitment to luxury service, team development, and operational excellence.
