Douglas Nagy has been appointed VP, Development Strategy & Sales Enablement, Americas at IHG Hotels & Resorts, taking on a new leadership role focused on development strategy and sales enablement across the Americas.
Nagy moves into the position after serving as Director, Office of the CEO, Americas at IHG Hotels & Resorts. In that role, he served as a strategic advisor to Americas leadership across the United States, Canada, and Latin America, working on initiatives ranging from scaling a midscale brand to reimagining luxury restaurant concepts.
Before joining IHG, Nagy spent more than four years with the City of Atlanta, where he served as Deputy Commissioner for Transportation Planning & Strategy. During his tenure, he co-founded Atlanta’s Department of Transportation.
Earlier in his career, Nagy spent five years with McKinsey & Company as an Engagement Manager in Cities, Travel & Infrastructure. Based across multiple markets including Colombia, Vietnam, the UAE, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Panama, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil, he advised cities, developers, and investors across the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. He also contributed to the launch of McKinsey’s office in Medellín, Colombia.
While completing his MBA at the University of Chicago, Nagy served as an Urban Planning Strategy Advisor to the City of Gary, Indiana. He was recruited by former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley to advise on neighborhood stabilization and retail district strategy, with his work later featured by NPR and The New York Times.
Earlier, Nagy served as Main Street Director at the Downtown Painesville Organization in Ohio, where he worked on the revitalisation of the city’s historic Main Street, central square, and community spaces. He also began his professional experience as a Senate Page with the Ohio Senate, supporting legislative and policy work while studying at The Ohio State University.
Nagy brings a multidisciplinary background spanning hospitality development, strategic planning, cities and infrastructure, transportation, investment, and sales enablement to his new role at IHG Hotels & Resorts.
